The Different Types of Sparring We Offer
Tag/Point Sparring: Tag or Point sparring is a great way to explore your martial arts abilities in a friendly competitive environment. In these matches, both fighters must try to hit their opponent’s body for points as quickly as possible. This type of sparring is about quickness and execution, rather than knock-out power. Every Student will have to do this to receive a Black Belt.
Modified Sparring: Modified sparring is a great option for those who are new to sparring, younger fighters, or anyone with a disability. The targets of the body are typically the same as Tag/ Point sparring but modified to offer a more user-friendly experience.
Take Down Sparring: Take Down sparring is a mix of Jiu Jitsu, Sanda, and continuous sparring matches. The rounds are ended by the instructor on the floor or when experienced fighters tap out. This is the most intense type of sparring offered at Intrinsic Martial Arts and is perfect for those looking to truly test their martial arts abilities in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere.
Tournament Sparring: Our sparring program also offers Tournament Sparring to those looking to train for a competition. When preparing for a tournament we will post the rules for all students to see and practice. This creates an atmosphere that resembles the day of the competition so that fighters can feel prepared and ready for the real thing.
